Martial
Art Biography
Terry Glen Raitt began general
studies in Korean martial art at age fifteen in July 1977.
He
was promoted at age seventeen to 1st Degree Black Belt on 15
September 1979 and appointed as an assistant instructor. He
began specific studies in Korean striking arts at that
time.
He was promoted at age nineteen to 2nd Degree
Black Belt on 5 January 1982 and began specific studies in
Korean grappling arts at that time. In Fall 1983, he began
teaching martial art classes at the Plano Parks and Recreation
Center in Plano, Texas and was certified at age twenty-two as
an instructor on 15 October 1984.
He was promoted at
age twenty-three to 3rd Degree Black Belt on 20 August 1985
and began specific studies in Korean throwing arts at that
time. He dedicated all his time to studying and teaching
martial art opening his first martial art school in Plano,
Texas in November 1985 teaching the art as
MuSul
.
He
was promoted at age twenty-five to 4th Degree Black Belt on 15
September 1987 and began specific studies in Korean classical
weaponry and acupuncture.
He was promoted at age thirty
to Master 5th Degree Black Belt on 1 April 1992 and began
specific studies in cavity press and vital-energy training. In
February 1993, he opened his second martial art school in
Plano, Texas teaching the art as
MuHak
.
He
was promoted at age thirty-four to Master 6th Degree Black
Belt on 27 May 1996, appointed
KwanJang
School Head in recognition of the development of the art, and
began specific studies in academics of history, language,
philosophy, principle, and theory as they relate to Korean
based martial art.
He began teaching the art as
MuSulHak
in October 2001 and was promoted two years later at age
forty-one to
ChongSa
Chief Master 7th Degree Black Belt on 1 July 2003.
He founded
World
MuSulHak Society
at age 41 on 9 August 2003
and was recognized as
HwoiJang
Society
Head.
He formalized the syllabus and was promoted at
age forty-seven to 8th Degree Black Belt on 6 June
2009 and recognized as
TaeSa
Grand Master of
MuSulHak
.
General
Biography
Terry Glen Raitt was born 26 March 1962
in Wichita Falls, Texas at Shepard Air Force Base Hospital as
the second son of Richard M. Raitt, who was on active duty in
the U.S. Air Force, and Judith Karen Raitt, who's maiden
family name is Golightly. Shortly thereafter, his family, with
the exception of his father who was still on active duty,
moved to Dallas, Texas to live with his maternal grandparents.
His sister was born during this time. After his father's
discharge from service, his family moved to a small house in
northeast Dallas where he attended public school through the
third grade. In 1971, his family moved to a new house in
Plano, Texas where he continued his education in the public
school system until the age of seventeen when he graduated
with a Diploma from Plano Senior High School. Thereafter, he
attended Grayson County Junior College, Richland Junior
College, Collin County Junior College, and the University of
North Texas where he was pursuing a B.S. Computer Science
major and was on the Dean's List for the Spring 1998
Semester.
As a boy, he began an eight year association
in scouting. He joined the Cub Scouts of America at the age of
eight for two years and earned their highest rank as well as
Cub Scout of the Year for the pack. At age ten, he joined the
Webelos, a division of the Cub Scouts, for one year earning
all fifteen of its skill awards. At age 11, he joined the Boy
Scouts of America for five years. As a Boy Scout, he spent a
total of one-hundred days and nights camping to include three
two-week fifty mile survival treks, participated in an
International Boy Scout Exchange Program in Mexico, attended a
National Boy Scout Jamboree, earned the rank of Eagle Scout
with Silver Palm, and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow
brotherhood. At age seventeen, his years of scouting
ended.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve on 24
September 1981 and completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson,
South Carolina on 18 January 1982. On 2 April 1982, he earned
the Administrative Specialist Course Diploma, PMOS 71L10 at
Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Having completed his initial
active duty training, he was attached to the 349th Military
Intelligence Detachment (Counterintelligence). As a Private
First Class and Specialist Fourth Class, he held a Top Secret
Security Clearance. On 13 January 1985, he was awarded a
Certificate of Achievement for meritorious achievement as an
Administrative Specialist. As a Specialist Fifth Class and
Sergeant, he held a Top Secret Special Background
Investigation Clearance. On 19 July 1985, he earned the
Counterintelligence Agent Course Diploma, PMOS 97B at Fort
McCoy, Wisconsin. On 7 December 1985, he was awarded the Army
Reserve Components Achievement Medal for exemplary behavior,
efficiency, and fidelity. Finally, on 30 January 1987, he was
reassigned to the U.S. Army Reserve Control Group where he
completed his enlistment.
His career for more than a
decade has been with information technology companies as a
manager and unix/linux systems administrator and security
expert.
